Edited by: Arkham Lerouge on 16/05/2008 09:30:11 Here's my (noob) question : how about semi-private group IPOs ?
What I saw since I'm reading this MD forum is that IPOs are usually :
"Hello, I'm mister A, please give me money, i'll give it back to you in some time, with interests". "Hello, we're mister B, C and D, and we're giving you money, just play with it and give it back to us with interests".
You're saying that we should have this scenario :
"Hello, we're mister A, B, C and D, please give us money, we'll give it back to you in some time, with interests". "Hello, we're mister E, F and G, and we're giving you money, just play with it and give it back to us with interests".
Now... there's also private IPOs, where some people who already know (and trust) each other invest in each other (or something like that).
How about semi-private IPO? The scenario would be :
"Hey, I'm mister A, and I have a plan, but I need help AND money. Give me money and/or time, and we'll earn some big iskies". "Hello, we're mister B, C and D, and we do have money for you, and we could also give you time to help out" "Hello, we're mister E, F and G, we don't have money, but we have time, and are willing to help out, and of course, have a piece of the pie".
Pros : trust is less an issue, as the investors are part of the game. Also, there's the group thing (to prevent burnout), so even non-investor could actually invest time.
Cons : * might need more "organization" work (project management ftw ;), and there's still the risk that a rich guy would just invest a few bills to be part of the game, and screw everything up just for the sake of it. Or a guy which has only time to invest would take advantage of it, and get away with the money. * maybe it's no possible to have this "group" thing without all being part of the same corp. In that case, maybe create and enlist alts?
I just believe that being part of the game (either by investing an idea - IPO founder -, money - investors - or time) will create a nice bond between the guys, and maybe reduce the trust issue : everyone will benefit/invest, and so everyone will loose if something goes bad.
Now, as I stated, i'm just a noob, so I might just miss the big picture.
